OpenSSL Command Generator
Build copy-ready OpenSSL commands for common certificate, key, PKI and TLS troubleshooting tasks.
Privacy: All command generation happens in your browser. This tool does not intentionally upload, execute, log, or store the values you enter.
Security: Commands may create or read sensitive private keys. Run them only on systems you trust. Do not paste private-key contents into this page. Use file paths only.

Operational guidance
- Prefer encrypted private keys for long-term storage where your application supports them.
- For public certificates, generate a CSR locally and use a trusted CA or ACME client rather than creating a self-signed certificate.
- Use SAN entries for hostnames and IP addresses; modern TLS clients generally do not rely on Common Name alone.
openssl s_clientis a diagnostic client, not a full browser validation test.- For connectivity troubleshooting, separate TCP reachability, TLS handshake success, certificate trust, hostname verification, protocol/cipher negotiation, and application-layer behavior.
- When testing by IP address, set SNI to the expected DNS hostname so virtual-hosted TLS services return the correct certificate.
- Always verify filenames and paths before running generated commands, especially when using overwrite-capable output options.
